Wayla is not just the best Thai on the Lower East Side, it’s one of the best Thai restaurants that we have ever been too in the city. The food was incredible and the staff were very friendly. The owner was lovely and made us feel very welcome. We highly recommend the BBQ ribs and the crab fried rice, as well the mango moose for dessert. We will definitely be returning here often!
Small dimmed and a great spot for a romantic date! The cocktails were delicious. The lobster noodle was bland and there should be more noodle options. Wings and ribs are a must-try. Curry with rice was mouthwatering. 10000% recommended.
Came here with a friend on a Wednesday night and it was super delicious with great service and great ambience. I know it might be a small touch but loved the playlist that was on that evening - not too loud but wonderful background tunes. The food was A+. We got the curry puffs, chicken wings, and papaya salad for appetizers which were delightful. The wings were perfectly crisped, the papaya salad was fresh and tangy, and the curry accompanying the curry puffs was smooth and flavorful. For our mains we got the BBQ beef fried rice - spicy but with some sweetness - and also the wok-fried shrimp (super spicy but so good). The dessert was icing on the cake - a mango mousse over sticky rice, very refreshing and with just the right amount of tart. Would love to go here again!
Finally I had a chance to try this one. I heard a lot of good things about Wayla. And boy, they didn’t disappoint me.
Love the cozy vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant.
Appetizer : Sang wa Kong was my favorite. It was a refreshing shrimp salad with a tangy and sweet sauce.
Main course: Kua Kling Kung was kicked off the show. It’s very spicy and delicious making me feel like I’m in Thailand. Sen Chan Pad Lobster also very tasty. Normally I don’t eat Pad Thai because the rice noodles. However this one used a different kind pf noodles and it was so good. The favor and texture were amazing.
Cocktail : the land of smile was so good. It’s easy to drink. If you like fresh and fruity cocktail this is the one
Service was great.
Nice Thai restaurant with interesting dishes. The various fried rice dishes were all fantastic. The meatballs were a bit gimmicky but alright. The Spiked Ice Tea cocktail didn’t taste like it had any alcohol in it (if that’s good or bad) and had too much ice for my preference. The atmosphere and vibe were great though.
I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal in Wayla. I had a couple creative drinks with couple dishes. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. Ideal for those who want a romantic night out. There was also plenty of room on a basement.
For drinks, I had the pandan cocktail. We started off with with the moo sarong and the nua jay pan aoi. The texture of the moo sarong was really crunchy, interesting, and memorable and the accompanying chili sauce was great—definitely a highlight of the menu. The “impossible meat” was very tender and the sauce was a solid combination of sweet and sour. For the main dishes, we had the sen chan pad lobster and see krong moo yang. I’m not a fan of the sen-chan noodles of the lobster dish; the noodles somehow felt a bit clumpy and it didn’t stand out from the lobster. The bbq ribs was better, a little bit salty, but very chewy. For dessert, we shared sticky rice mango which was hard to dig in and didn’t have a lot of flavor cohesion in my opinion. Overall, the restaurant atmosphere was great and the staff was very friendly.
This is my “secret” underground place for Thai. When I want Thai there are a few good places in NYC, so you have to stand out. The taste at Wayla is authentic and fresh. People here are beautiful and it’s easy to feel at home with the attentive staff and their ways. If you’re lucky, Stellar (that’s right) will be there and everything will be alright with the galaxy. Host Ken is more fun than Barbie’s guy. Don’t pass up the Mango Mousse w/sticky black rice. If your date is lively, this is a great spot. Winter Garden and teeny “get close to me already!” bar…
The ribs. Papaya salad. Sliced beef. Chicken wings… yummy
When I crave Wayla, there is no substitute.
I’m cravin’ now…
